About UK payslips

UK employers are legally required to provide employees with a payslip on or before each pay day. Payslips must show gross pay, all deductions itemised, and net pay. Since April 2019, hours worked must also be shown for variable-pay workers.

PAYE income tax and Class 1 National Insurance are the two main statutory deductions. The amounts depend on the employee's tax code, NI category letter, and earnings in the period.
